Again

Again

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Again

I want to go there

To the respite place and recharge

I want to go there

To the hanging glider on the edge of the cliff

On that crescent moon

I want to feel it whole

It’s movement in glow turning blue

And smell the rosy smell of kitten comfort in my room

I want to feel it in my cheek

Against my bone

In my nostrils

Up into the glandular pathway

To the center where hormones and pheromones are made

To the delicate DNA strands

And the weave of RNA

Down to the atomic galaxies there

Emitting from the secret of Black Holes

 And fill up whole again

I want to fill the orifices of feeling so deep

To lose sight

And gain the wild untamable truth that lurks within

Go to that place and round out whole again

I want to join the voice of butterfly wings in the heat of summer

Where cocoons are a mere dream

Faint as the rain soaked in dirt remembering the storm

In between the ordinary and patience I want to find

The capsule of time and open eyes

Where I lay in and in between

Inhabiting dreams that push against the skin

Inhabiting thoughts that push to fingertips

And something intimate that opens to forgetfulness

Of there being something, someone else

Other than this

And deep into the unknown

Discover this

So true that the reason of sky is blue

The cage of mind in birth

And the opening of soul

Housing a heart

And fill up whole again
