Beholding an Oath

Beholding an Oath

A Poem by Maryam Mottahedeh

Beholding an Oath

Loneliness has plucked from me

An image from my past

Another scenario oh too familiar a smell

That of comfort mixed with so much desire for change

So much desire period

I took an oath to this body

And the dormant is again awakening to the same truth

To the same illusions same believes

Holograms of safety, control, superiority and inferiority

All inter twined in the stem of self

And this plucking

This fuel

The blessed motivating factor of sanity and of choice

At my side

My companion preceding the body and such dreams of womanhood

Gravity is strong

And I full of questions

Like a child forbidden

I can see it coming

Can I be a sorcerer and change my fate

I can see it coming

Can I steer and make do with gravity and the image of my subconscious portrayed

And chose a new story

And fall not from heaven into the traps of self deception

Laid there in deep nightmares from which I’m awakening

Angels of mercy

Let not these perceptions frighten me

Let me behold the projector of self

And the greater powers that is behind you and me

Let me remember from where I came

And keep my oath

Be like you a sorcerer in my own dream
