The Second SexA Poem by Mary Christabel GeorgeWill not satisfy the conventional rules of poetry. But it has its own style. The second sex She breast fed me But said, Being hit by the world, its better to be hit by a man. I learned walking holding his hand But he said, a women maintains the decorum of the house. She played with me, when young But said, Compromise & sacrifice are more on our parts. He preached sermons in the temple. But said, It is an institution made in heaven, respect it. She shared my notes in the class But said, You know what ? you need to give him another chance. He appreciated my dedication at workstation But said, separation has become a fashion these days. I touched her feet, while entering into her house But she said, Make a child & it will bring you closer. But the tiny life inside me said Oh! Mother I need a mother but a loving father too. If you are not happy then I am unhappy too. I kept wondering... What my goodness could not do What will making love do? I kept sobbing Silently Many saw but did not object And the rest did not comprehend. What was my mistake? That Is my question For I am a second sex or a weaker sex. © 2016 Mary Christabel GeorgeAuthor's Note
