The author of eat right 4 your type, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo tells that according to your blood type, A, B, AB or O your diet should be based. When this book was released it was definitely an eye opening for several people to know about their body and personality needs. It is not easy to justify whether blood type diet actually works or no as there are no direct studies which compares the health in people and weight loss with people who were dieting or not.


People with type O blood group should lean on a high-protein diet heavy on lean poultry, meat, vegetables, fish, and along with light on beans, grains, and dairy. The blood groups diet also recommends various supplements to cope up with digestion issues and any other troubles related to them. Type A blood must focus on a meat-free diet which is based on vegetables, fruits, beans and legumes, in addition, to whole grains specially fresh and organic. People with blood group A diet  can benefit from above mentioned diet plan as they have slightly sensitive immune system.


Those with type B blood should avoid wheat, corn, lentils, buckwheat, peanuts, tomatoes, and sesame seeds.  Chicken is can also cause problem for those with type B blood group. Therefore, people with type B blood group should be encouraged in eating eggs, green vegetables, certain meats, along with low-fat dairy products. Those with type AB blood should focus on foods which include seafood, dairy, tofu, and green vegetables.


Usually, people with type AB blood tend to have low stomach acid, hence they should avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoked along with cured meats. For any food plan, vegetables have an important role to play. People with type O tends to have low level of thyroid hormones, hence vegetables like cauliflower, sprouts, Brussels, cabbage should be avoided which have negative effect on thyroid hormone. There is a need to eat nutrient packed vegetables that helps in building immune system such as Kale, broccoli, onions, romaine lettuce, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, swiss chard and spinach.


For helping the balance of body’s pH level, people with blood type O are recommended fruits with alkalizing effect for making it less acidic. There are many fruits available in the market which works well with blood type O metabolism, but the common fruits beneficial for blood type O include blueberries, bananas, black cherry juice, black cherries, mangoes, guavas, figs, prunes, plums and prune juice.


Blood type diet for type O also recommends avoiding avocados, apple juice, cantaloupe, honeydew, blackberries, oranges, coconut, strawberries, orange juice, and tangerines. Those with  blood type O positive diet  are usually recommended to consume high carbohydrate and high protein diet.
