I Lost

I Lost

A Poem by cosmicowl

Lights as red as rubies and as blue as the sky flooded my room,

The whining sounds of sirens pierced my ears.

And my body went numb.

I thought life had thrown all it had at me,

Clearly I was wrong.

This was the final curveball,

This was the event that would shatter my glass remains.

Reality was no longer existent.

Real and fantasy worked within each other.

And this, this did not seem real,

Until that next morning.

When I saw you immobilized;

Resembling a picture of death.

Plastic cylinders every which way

You were no longer yourself.

That is when I knew there was no walking out.

That is when I lost you,

That is when I lost myself.
