Fear

just going for the creepy

There is an interesting feeling that comes with being scared

No other emotion can really compare

The adrenaline gets going and the blood starts pumping

All leading up to a most terrifying scare

Your senses are cranked up to eleven

Your heartbeat you feel in your ears

Try to remain calm in the face of distress

And not to give in to your fears

Maybe you can’t sit still or perhaps are frozen in fear

Everyone has their own reaction

We all will share that cold dreadful feeling

When a frozen shiver sends your body to contraction

Do you stay and fight or do you turn tail and run?

In the end it’s only up to you

Either way you may become lame prey and are done

Falling victim to the specter that haunts you

So take a deep breath and don’t make a sound

Keep your wits and you may yet survive

But the night is still long with everything so wrong

It’s doubtless you’ll come out alive

you're right, fear is very fascinating. I could on about it for quite some times, it's both quite necessary to our survival, but can easily be a disadvantage to our advancement. I suppose it's sorta a necessary evil in a way if you catch my meaning.

Fear can help you or hinder you. It just depends on how you respond to it I suppose. In writing this I was trying to work on my ability to write something that instilled more of a fearful emotion. It's one of the harder things I've tried to do. I'll continue to work on it.

yeah, it really is. I suppose it's harder to convey psychological horror through the medium of poetry, than the cliché Halloween-ish type, where's it's just about corpses and things burning and creepy dolls. but I'm sure you'll still give it your best, you have my support :) (hope that last part didn't sound mean or whatever, I sometimes don't know how to express my words properly)
