I Can't Sleep

I Can't Sleep

A Poem by Mitch
"

You don't know what you have until it's gone

"

I can’t sleep and I’m pretty sure it’s your fault

As we go to bed you hog all the covers saying you’re cold

As you snuggle up behind me you come in so close you almost push me over the side

Finally you roll over and I get some more room

But then you move again, in to the middle of the bed, and I’m back to no room at all

You sleep sideways with your feet buried under my legs

You say you’re cold

When we wake up you have pushed all the blankets on top of me and I’m sweaty

I thought you said you were cold

Each night is the same with no break in routine

But tonight you aren’t here next to me and I have the bed all to myself

And as hard as I try I can’t sleep.

Omg... This is absolutely adorable... Feel so blessed to have stumbled upon this little treasure. I am still giggling.:) Giggles which had began with the very first line and continued to the very end. As this is completely how it is, right? They drive you utterly crazy to the point you're like, "Golly! Can I just get a break!" Then they give you one and you're like, "Wahhh! I take it back! I totally miss you, baby." Thank you so incredibly much for the joy this brought, for the giggles and the smile still tugging on my lips. Here is to many more nights of her freezing and you waking sweaty buried beneath the covers.:) Truly wonderful piece!

Aww. So very sweet.
They drive us bonkers, yet we can't sleep without all of their crazy habits, that we have grown accustomed to.
This is such a adorable piece.

Your writing is bringing smiles this morning.
I love it.
