The Streets of London

The Streets of London

A Poem by marty360
"

Just a quick piece I wrote in the aftermath of the recent events in London. In no way is this meant to be taken in a racist manner, please bear that in mind.

"
We, as a country,
Have gone soft,
Blaming everyone but ourselves,
But, we are to blame.

We give out human rights,
As if they are free,
But when a solider is hacked,
On the streets of our once great land,
It's the attackers that are backed.

We give them asylum,
We give them life,
We give them opportunity,
And they thank us with a sacrifice?!

How they have the audacity,
To scream at the camera,
No apology, no remorse,
Yet we'll let them live,
On our money, of course.

It's time we stand up,
As a nation who are proud,
Take back our land,
Take back our pride.

Get rid of the low-life,
Get rid of the scum,
This is our nation,
Let's stand,
Stand as one.

Found it a tad racist. Self centered and god like.

I guess it is what the reader takes from it also that can be construed as such

I understand. I wasn't trying to "have a go" at you was merely asking, thanks for clarifying.
I agree with Luke here, it does indeed sound like a political speech.
It was indeed motivating, and lets hope these wishes come true.
Wonderful work, great job

Quite a nationalist stance. Could be perceived either way depending on the nature of the reader. I particularly like your use of off-setting some of the lines so they appear as an afterthought, very well done. The occasional repetition puts me in the mind of a political speech, it is quite moving. Good penmanship, well done :)
