Send Me Some MagicA Poem by martinos74Take a walk through Hogs Back, Eastern Cape, South Africa on a misty Friday night! Recording at : https://soundcloud.com/martinos74/send-me-some-magicTake a walk in the mist, Through the cloud and the lost thoughts, Send me some magic, on a street corner. The fire burns, slowly with 2 coals smoking, A carved horse, A fresh loaf of bread, crushed roughly in the middle with no sense of regret. It's Friday evening in town, The haze throws shadows out one by one, There's a smell of cheap alcohol and desperation in the air, Mud and boots fill the doorways, With shouts and cries and blue overalls. Send me some magic they cry. The fire still burns, We speak to Peter, He looks like he'd be robbed to pay Paul, Crazed eyes, missing teeth and 2 words of English. He takes risks every day, Playing with the dice in the hope of some small victory. He treets us well though, He gets us what we need, His friend looks on nervously, Hoping to share some of the success, Send me some magic I hear him whisper. I thank Peter and take him by the hand, Only to find his hand shrunken, deformed and hanging down, He takes my hand and kisses it in thanks, He wants someone to send some magic down.
