Potraits of Cuba #1 - "Sugar Cane Cowboy"A Poem by martinos74My homage to a tobacco farmer I met in the hills of Cuba (Vinales)
(Song Version : https://soundcloud.com/martinos74/sugar-cane-cowboy)
My life's not bad, Sometimes it can be tough, But I spend my time, Chilling in the hut. I live by simple means, I've got my cane, tobacco and rum, I've got an iron press, a cane stripper, Cups, fruit and some more rum. Sit down and I'll make you the finest, sweetest, Most natural drink of your life. Take a leaf from my pocket amigo, I'll make you another and another. Give me a minute and I'll roll you together, The finest, smoothest, most natural smoke, I'll create it from leaves soaked in fruit and honey. This is my trade, passed down over years, I work with a smile on my face, I'm pleased to meet you, Not for your money, which I'll gladly take, But for your company, Your smiles, Your gestures. So what do you think of the ladies? Las chicas son mas linda del mundial, And they like to have fun, Let me teach you a song about them. Take these to your home with you, My wife made them herself, And tell everyone where you found me, Chilling in my hut, With my cane, tobacco and rum!
