Blossoming Graveyard

Blossoming Graveyard

A Poem by Martha Gilleece

If death knocks before I grow,
decorate my coffin.
Paint colorful pictures,
play beautiful music,
so I may sleep with peace.

If death knocks before I experience,
please know I will still love.
I will have my words forever within me.
They creep in between my bones and
lay dormant, letting me absorb their feelings.

If death knocks before my time,
don’t ever fret about being alone
for I will follow through the sky,
always with you, never letting go.

Plant vines and flowers on my grave
because they will grow tall and proud,
for they know nothing of death.

Bury me when the sun breaks apart.
I was meant to rest under the dark
I will shine as a star,
at all times guiding you the direction home.
