no heart to call home

no heart to call home

A Poem by Martha Gilleece
"

not too serious about this one

"

Have you ever

thought about leaving?

Just skip town, pack a bag,

and go on without looking back.

You could fly

high above them all.

In a hot air balloon perhaps,

filled with scrumptious treats, delightful costumes,

and a joyous, laughing man.

No need to feel lonesome my dear,

for your loved ones may join if they please.

There will always be enough room.

You could drive a bus,

painted up to the very top with vibrant flowers

and brilliant, lovely words.

Chimes could dangle from the mirror

and when the windows are down,

you’ll hear their sweet soft whisper,

reminding you why you’re there.

You may realize that there’s no need

to voyage too far from home.

Have you ever

thought about simply

looking around?

I really enjoyed this! Being one who grabbed onto the opportunity to travel around the country and have seen many things, it strikes a powerful cord, for as the last 5 lines bring home the point, sometimes all that is needed is for us to open up our eyes to the adventures in our own back yard. Yet...I'll say this... there is nothing wrong with hoping that train to see where it might take ya.

Great Ink!

Great poem. It's wonderful sometimes to just leave situations that have no hope of getting better. Unfortunately you have to drudge thru them and see it to the end. So you can begin a more favorable cycle in life.
