Winter morning I & II

Winter morning I & II

A Poem by martadella

Winter morning I

He sits by the window

Cold sky next to his skin

It’s dark today

Outside and from within

The world is a dump

For dead leaves and wet snow

He’s reading a book

Oblivious to all

He smiles to himself

Pushes back his wild hair

Our hands almost touch

His the colour of caramel

We step off the train

Into the greyness

Then he disappears

We go our separate ways

--------------

Winter morning II

She jumps into the carriage

Just before the doors shut

A couple of snowflakes

Melting on her hat

She takes out her laptop

Waits for it to start

Stares out of the window

Then draws up a chart

She takes off her scarf

And unzips her jacket

I can smell her perfume

Her nails painted scarlet

We arrive at the station

And soon she is gone

The darkness returns

And the snow carries on
