Proceed

Proceed

A Poem by Marshal Gebbie

Sliding into fury

Transfixed by the schemes

Of ponderous performers

And ridiculous new themes

Of barbarous intentions

Upon my settled self,

With insidious speculation

Delivered low with stealth.

Respond with slash and parry

To effectively rebuff ?

Who would have thought the criticized

Would be recanting in a huff?

Who would have thought the leader

Would be the one to fold

When traditionally the brutish

Are the strongest to withhold?

So go climb the mountain,

Buy off all the fools.

Nullify objections

And obfuscate the rules.

Proceed as if divinely led,

Hold your head erect.

Ignore the uproar in the shadows

And let the dispossessed object.
