Much as I hate to say it, Rasputin is right. Signing a petition to stop something like this isn't going to help. I've heard about the issue before, though I don't know much about it, and it was a few years ago that I first saw this petition. If it's not illegal, signing a petition (trying to change French laws on a mostly English-speaking website) isn't going to do anything. If it is illegal, obviously the perpetrators don't care what anyone thinks. If they're willing to go against the law, a petition isn't going to stop them.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love animals. I've been volunteering and getting donations for shelters instead of birthday presents since I was six. However, I don't think this is the way to help any animals. In this case, actions definitely speak louder than words.
I'm an animal lover too--golden-fried dog tastes wonderful with barbecue sauce. Just ask the Chinese :)

Well, I agree with Marble Mountain, but with something like this, I believe that a petition could become something. It doesn't matter if it's in French territory, crimes against animals tend to be the most universally accepted. This is like Kony2012. Signing a petition and having it be passed around draws attention to the problem. If enough people want change to happen, the people in charge are more likely to listen. American leaders can take the issue to French leaders and get them to make change, or bring it up through the UN. If the UN decides it needs to be fixed, France is more likely to listen to that authority. Yes, just signing a petition is a small feat in itself, but it can lead to change like a ripple in a pond. So, Maria, sign me up as "Ailaina" please.
Allison Lofton .... add me to the list. I don't know if it will help, I agree with Marble Mountain on this one, action needs to be taken. But how to take action on my own part I do not know so this is all I can do for those poor animals right now.
