Ode to the California Brownie

Ode to the California Brownie

A Poem by Marrones

Ode to the California Brownie

 By: Jay Dubb

Chocolate in a field becomes the house aroma.

I walk over to the oven, to observe the herbal snack

My tongue rubs the roof of my mouth palatable canola

Large chunks of Hershey’s, semi sweet brown and black.

My teeth slices through the creamy, moist, cookie sized cake.

Chocolate enraptures my tongue, my taste buds rise to the occasion

It washes down my throat like chocolate milk mixed in fudge paint

The herb settles in my body and commences bodily invasion.

I can’t resist the sweet, tasty, triple chunk treats.

I want the crumbs to run across my tongue again.

The herb gave off a sedating unique reek.

My minds headed for a constant spin.

The last brownie in the pan, I ate without a fork in hand.

The effect it had was so strong, to my bed I can no longer stand.
