The Perfect Date

The Perfect Date

A Poem by Marquise

1:34pm: I call her during lunch, just to make sure plans are still on...
7:00pm: I arrive at City Hall where we planned to meet...
7:22pm: She arrives, she starts to apologize for her lateness...
7:22pm: I tell her it was more than worth the wait, and she smiles...

7:45pm: We arrive at the Italian bistro she mentioned to me three weeks ago
7:45pm She gives me "cool points" for my good memory
7:47pm: I'd forgot to make reservations and its an hour for the next table...
7:50pm: She caters to my bruised ego, and acknowledges my effort
7:50pm: She gives me a "B+" instead of an "A" for effort and we share a laugh.

8:06pm: We walk and stumble across a dessert boutique...
8:08pm: Dessert before dinner...
8:18pm: We reminisce about childhood memories
8:19pm Hands held across the table, smiling at one another...
8:27pm: Still smiling for no reason....
8:38pm: She offers her last bite of ice cream to me

8:40pm: As we walk toward the restaurant, it begins to rain heavily
8:42pm: We are caught off guard, no umbrellas and soaked head to feet...
8:47pm: We decide to cancel our table and headed back to her place
9:15pm Upon arrival, she phoned in a pizza from the local pizza place
9:45pm: Chillin' on the couch watching reruns of "Martin" and stuffing pizza in our face...

11:06pm I gather myself and she walks me to the door
11:11pm We hug and she kisses my cheek so softly
11:12pm As I walk down the street she yells, "Call me as soon as you hit the door."
11:23pm On my bus ride home, I laugh to myself about what happened at 8:19pm
11:25pm What happen at 8:19pm made me realize how much I truly like her...

11:40pm: I hit my door and speedily called her phone
11:40pm: I appreciate her concern that I safely made it home
11:47pm She hesitates, but wondered if I enjoyed our evening together
11:47pm I happily reply, "Our date couldn't have turned out any better..."
11:48pm I could feel her smile and blush, and her silence was the best
sound I've ever heard...

I can't believe no one reviewed this yet, it's awesome.
Of course I love the way you put the time in here
some of it is 10 or 20 minutes apart and others are
a mere minute, but the emotion is felt I love it.
This is a great clean poem. I'm happy you didn't put
anything else in it (you know) because it would've died
in my opinion, but I love it!

About
I don't consider myself a writer because I don't write often, but I have trouble putting words together when I want to express myself verbally. Writing is the one way I can do this successfully. I lov.. more..
