Let's Waste Away Together

Let's Waste Away Together

A Poem by Marla

Your smoky-soft bliss

Is cut by the hiss

Of concrete’s wet kiss

 Now you have nothing left.

Color soaks me all day

Yet I still reek of grey

So unnoticed I'll stay

Until I have nothing left.

To be sheltered by pride

Helps you mask what’s inside

It's so easy to hide

When you have nothing left.

I’ll kiss away time

And whisper I’m fine

Tongue bloodied with wine

And I have nothing left.

Though each stolen breath

Will fuel our slow death

We’ll continue this theft

For we have nothing left.

I thought this stanza was insightful. I also thought the refrain "For we have nothing left" was very effective in creating a sort of fatalistic or nihilistic undertone to the piece.

Wow, this was deep and mentally resonate. I saw this piece speaking to me about one's inner regrets that people hold, especially when they take and action and it doesn't have a positive outcome, but they continue to flow that course, rather than backing up and taking another. Thus in the end, they are left holding life empty handed for it has grown to lack any true life. That's what I got from it anyway.

Great Ink!

This was really a poem that I found comforting, no matter it's implications of depression, loneliness, self-loss, etcetra. I can relate to it really well, as I'm sure many people can. It was quite pretty.
