Corners

Corners

A Poem by Markoo
"

Raving lunacy.

"
Something is there,
I feel it lurking in that corner we never visit
it whispers of doom.
That little task we must avoid, the murderers
of our loved ones, in the shadows they enjoy.
What can we do?
What can we say
to the hearts so set on evil?
They're crawling toward us as the sun sets.
They're creeping nearer while we argue.
They're coming for our heads.
No need to bicker.
   It's us we see.
The dark spots on the mirrors where our eyes used to be
Shifting your head slightly, there's a glint and a smile
Let it go down easy,
remain in light for a while
Small things we never looked at
The worst part of ourselves
got dissolved in the motion of turning our heads
no need for weakness with honesty as your ally
The worst that lurks inside of us
The murderers we need not kill
Can't crawl farther still
once we set a chair in the corner
and take a minute to ponder there.
