Wanted: Dead or Alive (For Liz Trim)

Wanted: Dead or Alive (For Liz Trim)

"

Wanted"Dead or Alive (For Liz Trim)

It could be the case that you have never

been the person you have pretended to be;

that your birthplace was a brothel outside

of Topeka; that your father was a

train robber escaped from the law; and your

mother was the gun moll who had helped him

evade the posse that Dillon and Festus

had assembled in Dodge. Origins can

be like that--tales told in the winter

in a cabin just over the ridge; quilts

hand-stitched by hardscrabble women; legends

of journeys from Ireland--mule trains, gunfights,

rumors of gold strikes--and your grandmother’s

piano abandoned upon the plains.

Not bad. A bit too firmly grounded for my taste, but there's nothing wrong with that. Your writing is technically correct and you keep the audience's attention all the way through. Good work.
