Med SchoolA Poem by Markus Anthony
366/366
5/31/2020 - concepcion, iloilo, philippines there is joy in my heart today/ a third beat/ as I mark another milestone/ a groundwork laid, a test of strength/ it was paved in white and later stained/ blood, tears, mucus and all kinds of fluids/ a treat to the brain as that to the senses// four years ago when I took that leap/ with endurance of a teen/ a face of grim/ aiming for a strong finish beyond the cliff/ a childlike faith was all I mustered/ and family that did not hinder/ had it not been for an enemy that can't be seen/ I'll be wearing a toga with tassels green// my heart goes out to my batch/ so strong/ and persistent/ with hearts we can hear/ my parents whose dream was my own/ you are the victors in this journey/ as clerkship closes today, I remember/ crying in my retreat/ losing people/ and most of all, learning// my mind is hungry/ my heart is full/ thankful for the memories/ and the people/ i gained in med school// cc celestial signing off © 2020 Markus AnthonyReviews
