My heart was heavily guarded,
None inside might be permitted.
Long neglect had rendered it hardened,
As upon Life's abuses 'twas spitted!
Then arose, unanticipated
From a place where I'd never dared look
She for whom my heart had long waited
A new chapter within my life's book!
Began we at first blush with caution,
Awakening passions long-quiet,
But ere long, knots were loosed, too long tautened
So decided we may as well try it!
Now, Fair Reader, condemn not in haste,
For I sought not her bed first, or soon,
I longed not her fair Spirit to waste
By behaving too like a buffoon!
No, her heart and her mind I first delved
Learning all that I might of her life
Love came first, before Caution was shelved
And I then made of her my e-wife!
What between us has passed I'll not share,
But within my heart's closet hold close.
Nor would I ever cause her despair--
But instead, to our Love raise a toast!
What has happened here, who could foresee?--
It has taken me quite by surprise!
But I know, Here's where I need to be
Every time I look into her eyes!
So, Fair Reader, would you wish us the best,
Nor condemn what you don't wish to see?
As our lives survive each day's new test:
Hand-in-hand, heart-by-heart, her with me!
I will assume congratulations are in order for your e-marriage. Lovely and understandable writing. Best wishes to the smitten and the bitten. -May the relationship be long and fulfilling. Cyber love, hmmmmm no alimony, no bills, no nagging, no honey do's or honey don'ts, this is getting to sound pretty good.
Ahhh how sweet it is to stroke a key. Type, type, type; enter. Wait....."I do" she said, and "with this web ring, I thee web. Fun piece, and fun it was to write too, I'm sure. I enjoyed it.
This is very endearing (to say the least). Your words have found a very verdant ground and have sprung forth quite a exotic garden! Very well worded and phrased. Love is so multifaceted. Very nice work indeed!
I like your style very much. In it is reflected a gentleman, depth of character, and sophistication. You do have a strong talent (writing) and have a future at this.
As for poetry, I know little. Oh, I have an appreciation for it, but do not know the rules or understand the rythm. I can tell you that your subtle manner of revelation is what I most find of interest, aside from what you have to say.
Writing, for me, has always been the friend who brought out the best in me, and who would never argue with me, except when necessary to point out my many obvious inconsistancies.
Writing and.. more..
