Morning DreamsA Poem by Marius NeguliciWe all experienced losses in our lives. Some of them define us for what we are. This poem is about such a loss and the feelings created by it.I wake up in the morning, without knowing why, I wake up in the morning, just wanting to die, I wake up in the morning, the sun burns my skin, I wake up in the morning, hoping it’s just a dream.
I wake up in the morning, it’s you I want to see, I wake up in the morning, a fire burns in me, I wake up in the morning, to douse away my flame I wake up in the morning, to wash away my shame.
I wake up in the morning, the walls crumble on me I wake up in the morning, drowning in the sea I wake up in the morning, hoping I’ll be saved, I wake up in the morning, hoping I’ll be dead.
I wake up in the morning, calling out your name I wake up in the morning, caressing your picture’s
frame I wake up in the morning, I’m trying to be brave, But then again I realize, I’m nothing but your slave.
