Mirror Me

Mirror Me

A Poem by Marimorgan

Everything contridicts itself.
I feel beautiful
Gossamer, honeyed,
Desired.
One moment I feel like an
Angel on earth;
Then I see my face,
That demon in the glass
And I want to shatter it-
Break the hideous image
Into a hundred-thousand shards.
Then I can remake myself
With glue and
a little luck.
I stare into the silvered surface.
I loathe the mirror-me.
Her sins are slapped across her face:
Scattered across her cheeks and chin,
Her crooked teeth disgrace her smile,
Her glasses dull her eyes.
How can that be me?
I cannot be her-
She is ugly.
I am beautiful, vital
Sexy and irresistible!
I know this,
But there she is
Mocking me silently.
Giving lie to my wishful
Self-image.
