Belly of the Beast

Belly of the Beast

A Poem by Mariko
"

the earth -- swallowed whole -- rested uneasy in the belly of the beast today

"
the earth -- swallowed whole --
rested uneasy in the belly of the beast today

spats of lightening flecked as
rumblings echoed off curved walls
phantom wisps, steaming, roil and lift
fomenting smokey clouds that
growled and roared and paced
overhead

waiting to break
with poignant rip as energy flies forth from fired lips

devours more of the universe
in one bite and one grip

...

and,
with weeping voice-

Laments.

x
lovely work, it's got this gulping, angry sort of motif that you keep consistently through the whole piece.

Beautiful, your words dance across the page giving light to the vivid imagery your ink provides, though short the piece holds weight and the metaphors are perfection that flames and flickers as candle-light, a wonderful idea born through your words as the gluttonous beast devours what it can see and yet does not think of the consequences, of an angry earth, bitter and angry with elements of weapons at their fingertips.
