You said that you know me,

but lets be honest,

I don't think I find that very true,

Yes, you know my birthday,

of course you do,

Yes, you know what size shirt I wear,

But you don't know as much as you think,

I remember when you said my favorite color,

It was red, but you said pink,

You say you love me in front of teachers,

In front of therapists,

And leave me looking ignorant,

But somewhere,

Somewhere down in my heart, I know

That it can't be true,

You can argue all day and all night,

Just to get the satisfaction of always being right,

Even when you're not,

You said you know me better that I know myself huh?

That's kinda funny,

Cause you didn't even know my favorite color,

At my age, I might know something today and not remember it tomorrow. I satisfy myself with knowing who my friends are. I'm "safe" with them because they will understand. Maybe we all simply want to feel safe and understood.

I find the person who knows us the best is ourselves
The people that disappoint us and don’t know us properly in depth may have limits to their understanding of our nature of us. It’s not their fault it’s their makeup their DNA
They try but can’t quite get us !
I know my partner is one he knows me ive known him since 17 and I’m 65 in January!!! Ok so he knows me but there is a limit to him understanding everything about me Humans being complex as we are. If you know and understand yourself maybe that’s a blessing too
