Love For My Daughter

written when my daughter was pregnant

you were a gift from god
a light in my body
i waited for you
such a long long time
you filled my life with love
the sun in my body
i held you tender from before you came
i watched you grow up proud
my light of my body
i watched you become
all i could not be
things are different now
a light in your body
is waiting for your smile
and tender touch
and so we carry on
from a light in a body
doing the best we can
to learn to grow
thank you for the gifts
the lights of your body
i cherish what i see
all started from
a prayer to find someone
to light up my lifetime
and it was always you
