Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by marielondon

Sometimes it hurts to remember.
It's painful to think of the times that have slipped through our fingers,
remaining only sepia images flashed across our dreamy minds
like a movie screen.
It's a film you've seen on many occasions,
but one you never get tired of.
Sometimes I close my eyes and think of the air.
It was thick and sweet around me,
it brought us together by chance.
Or was it fate? I'm not so sure.
Sometimes I want it one more time.
I want to feel the crumbly earth beneath my feet
as we walk side by side under orange and pink.
The comfort of being happy in each moment
is like nothing else.
Sometimes sleep was difficult
because the ache of the heat of the days
was too lovely to put to bed.
But seeing you in each new light
pushed me deep into the pool of dreams
which mingled with reality.
Sometimes I want to tell you how much it meant to me.
Sometimes it hurts to remember.
But it hurts even more to forget.

Sometimes it hurts to remember.
But it hurts even more to forget.

you do give this a good send off...
but those 2 lines give much...
to the entirety of this work...

A very good poem, full of great imagery and the chosen words certainly have made an impact. I loved the last line because it's so true, yet rarely acknowledged.
