A Poem by The Musings of Mary H.
"

a story poem

"

They took the hall mirror down at 1414 Windshire Road
the ladies claim to have seen faces in aged, cracked glass
some of the features looked that of trodden blue women
other visages were lonely waifs vanished looking for help

one lady caused an upheaval on a sullen day at the home.
traveling the hall she sees a straggly, bruised female
as she passes the mirror on the way to the shower room.
her naked hands she strikes the lady away in large shards.

another lady heard screams of shrill irritation and ferocity
ran feverously down the elongated passage to be of rescue.
approaching the mirror, she seen a black-eyed forlorn orphan.
she slid to the floorboards in fetal position, whimpering softly

a third lady provoked by adrenaline pushes her way through
a now outsized group to discover what is causing such madness
she observes the broken mirror, blood seeping down the walls
tears start to trickle her face, she hurridly walks away in shame

a couple of the residents, afraid to glance in the fractured
mirror, administered first aid, cleaned up the blood and shards.
ladies walked away shaking their heads, others gave words of
consolation, most avowed never to wander the hallways alone

town folks never talk about what goes on in the ladies home
no one bothers to question concerning the mysterious events
of that fearsome night. although a rumor is mentioned about
how the traditional mirror appears only to bestow reflections.

Another fascinating piece of writing. The adjectives used were astonishing. Thought it took me three or four times to read it, something new came to mind each time. Great work!
