Card Board BoxA Poem by The Musings of Mary H.My heart jolts from being frozen to life unchanged.
Darkness looms on my bed
I hear you cry all around me
my heart jolts from being
frozen to life unchained
gathering senses as I could
put a robe around my frigid
body sprinting to hunt your
voice in empty, echoed areas
one room has my books
a dusty collection of seashells
one room abandoned, another
is a small kitchen and window
you are now wailing in fear
tears are trailing down my
face, my mind is racing
thoughts of you hungry
needing me to feed you
I check the bathroom a final
time before I trip over a box
of your precious, tiny items
a box with your lovely name
in cardboard was all I ever
had of your sound as I never
heard it the maddened day I
gave birth to you.
to you
