My freezing heart

My freezing heart

A Poem by mariehelene

The world can be a cold and bitter place

And I don't want to be like that

The icy winds blow in my face

And my heart is freezing fast.

I must keep my eyes fixed on the joy

And all the goodness to be found

I must keep my heart upon the path

Of seeking the wonder that is around.

And when the icy winds do blow

I shall turn my back upon its wind

And in my heart I will try my best

To have a hopeful song to sing.

excellent piece, loved the message of this, in the cold world we must remain hopeful and focus on the good. loved how the first stanza describes how cruel the world is then the second brings pure hope. then finally the third stanza reintroduces the theme of the cruel world, yet the hope and goodness that was "found" in the second stanza is applied to the situation. also really loved these lines

"And in my heart I will try my best
To have a hopeful song to sing."
very anthemic and promising. excellent piece overall.

very uplifting. I like the icy winds metaphor and the determination to be joyful regardless.
