Give In

Give In

A Poem by Mari R-J

It's cold outside but I need fresh air.
Excess of wine and cigarettes.
My shrinking eyes chase the darkness.

Sitting there I have a revelation.
My heart is no longer mine
And it will soon come to kill me.

I'll be praying like Jesus in the garden
Sentenced to death by slow poisoning.
Cause my heart, the f****r, doesn't own a rifle.

I like this, in part, because you curse, after mentioning Jesus & death - after you imply talks of weakness, of something you cannot fight, but would fight ...if you stood a chance, that is - against emotion & "things" that make us "human." You sound smart, but not yet bitter. Sounds like a healthy balance; rational.

Thank you for finding me.
