Morning Coffee

Morning Coffee

A Poem by Mari R-J

I crawl down the stairs
With a heavy heart.
The day doesn't promise
Smiles or adventure.

I hear the voice
Of the man I love
And the smell of coffee
Drowns my senses.

He hands me the mug
And kisses my forehead.
He smells of fresh soap
And is wearing a smile.

I see his sweet eyes
And fall into his chest.
He says good morning, babe,
And I believe him.
