Giggles

Giggles

A Poem by Mari R-J

It's 8am and I'm exhausted.
Birds chirp outside like evil minions.

Little hands cover my eyes.
Butterfly kisses on my cheeks.

I find the tickle spot on her belly.
Giggles erupt from her tiny mouth.

Mornings are my enemy.
Daylight is torture to my eyes.

But giggles from my Laila
wake me like fluttering angel wings.

I love this! How precious to have a bright light to dispel the dreary mornings! How magical that children and animals can sense just when we need a lift, and always give that light so freely, without effort- because it is just who they are! Wonderful poem- thank you.
