War

The poem contains a real depiction of a war scenario and the thoughts that arise in the mind of a common man when he / she at first suddenly gets to know about it and then the way he/ she reacts.

I can see people running past me in terror,
I can see houses broken like pieces of mirror,
I can hear parents weeping for their lost child,
But,WAIT!What has caused all this turmoil?
I don't know anything, am speechless,
The only thing that my mind knows now is to run,
Run for the sake of my life,
Run for myself.

On reaching a place, which people considered safe,
My mind and legs are frozen like ice,
And then I realise that
That was just the beginning,
The beginning of an end.

The sound of bombs falling in my surroundings still haunts my ears,
And this made me wake up from the hard Gordian Cot in fear,
Thousands like me have occupied the entire space,
And all of them just have one expression on their face,
FEAR,
The fear of death,
The fear of not being able to survive,
The fear of losing their loved ones,
The fear of losing it all.

Why do people have to fight?
Don't they feel ashamed of killing people right in front of their sight?
What is the need of a war that does no good?

But now it has all just begun.
I am a common citizen and
The only thought that dominates my mind now is to be safe and,
To pray to the lord to please stop the war for everyone's sake.
