First Moments and AgainA Poem by Marian ElizabethI’ve been trying to pinpoint The genesis of a habit The unorthodox first breath That dissolves a wall of life With a bashful wave of vice Containing a newfound love. I’ve been trying to retrace The frenzy the new sun felt When it shone his firstborn light, The shiver the moon pulled through When she heard her own throat laugh, The false languor of the flower As death ate her in her prime Just when she saw her hue In the falling raindrop glass That a summer storm procured. I’ve been trying to pinpoint The second my eyes made tears Which electrified my hands Into molding up a poem Of mashed up clouds and blue thunder When I thought my light had died. © 2017 Marian ElizabethReviews
