Of Clearer StonesA Poem by Marian ElizabethAquamarine-made You claim my eyes to be. More towards blue than green These portals of truth keep in The sad fish of sacrifice. Moist clarity of my heart, Submissive to any hands That seek to know kinder waters. Translucent aquamarine Superfluous in feminine ways! Yet liquids of my confines sway Seldom to profuse And sweet But to bitter And discreet Purposes in the yonder. I apologize. No sea or face is that constant; Not so vitreous any gaze. Aquamarine I could own When heavens the moon and sun In equal hours contained; Vernal gem of feelings fruitful To issue bland candor trained. © 2016 Marian ElizabethReviews
