![]() So I May LiveA Poem by Marian ElizabethHear crimson jewel of my chest By turbulent feelings stirred; From your ocean of grey sadness Waves wash upon shores of grief. Do retreat, So I may live, Command back your rough tides; Contain yourself in the depths Where pure pale white patience hides. You pump the waters of life To what avail? Inundated are my veins Yet these cheeks devoid of tint. See the destroyed shells hint These tumultuous storms of mine. Nacre! Pearls in half! Sentiments that cut the skin. As I walk do sleep a while; Dry the sand that marred my feet. Tame despair’s high peaks of foam And the salt that my eyes weep. © 2016 Marian ElizabethReviews
