I Don't Want Your Eternity

I Don't Want Your Eternity

A Poem by marianas

I Don't Want Your Eternity

I don't need
The future. I have too much
Future already. I want

The past. I want your life.
To watch empires rise
And fall. To witness
The earth's turning.

And not just see;
To act! To shift the course
Of history with a word.

To remember it all.
All of it. Every second.
Some bitter torture I'd accept
Willingly; beg for it.

Because it is a safe wish.
It is something I know I cannot
Have.

I liked the view in which this poem was expressed. We see the future before us, reach toward it yet somehow we always manage to live in the past. It is more I believe because we know we cannot change it yet we always pose the question, well what if I had? Great write.
