Ghosts of WhispersA Poem by MJI'll let the poem speak for itself...The rain goes on, Snakes trail down my window, And my shadow melts into them, Once the evening is gone. There are whispers in the air, They snicker at the my fate, There’s joy in their voices, When mine is smothered with hate. I know you’re somewhere here, It’s the Middle of the night, And I’ve turned on the lights, So where can you disappear? You’re in the whispering heat, In the sway of the curtain, Breathing hard behind my back, Sending shivers down my feet. ‘Come now and watch’, watch be me strong, Come and hear my silence, Watch my face turn to stone, Come because I fear, it won’t be this way for long. Whispers and smiles, ears and eyes, All follow me through, A thundering night, And I blissfully sit under a canopy of lies. But once the thunder is dead, And the night dissolves, And the snakes freeze in place, There are tears to be shed. You shall join me then, Squeeze them out of my eyes, You will watch me then from unknown skies, And I’ll shiver and I’ll struggle, a fish with a broken fin. © 2012 MJ |
