Sense and SolitudeA Poem by MJ‘Watch’ he says, Watch me pull out year heart, With the string I hold, When we’re miles apart. ‘Listen’ he screams, Hear the sound of my feet, Are they near or far? Don't you want to meet? And he pulls out my heart, Gray like stone, A shadow in the distance, So, I’m not alone. ‘Feel’ he says, Feel the heat of my skin, Not out here, But deep within. ‘Taste’ he whispered, Lick the dew off your fear, What use is this turmoil? I am still here. So I lick at fear, with the edge of my tongue, But it’s steaming hot, Bitter and red, Leaves a burning spot. Closer he is now, I feel it within, When he says, “now all there’s left is to smell’, The scent of my shirt trailing on your skin, The scent of love simmering deep within. ‘Wait’ I cry out, Something is amiss, Perhaps it’s the magic of your gaze, Or a stolen kiss. And I reach out to his face, And grab fistfuls of air, I walk to his love, And find thorny despair. ‘Your sense’ he whispers, From a place nowhere, As he snickers, and Laughs. As I slip and slide, And flip and glide, Down a tunnel of murmurs and blurs alike, And open my eyes. © 2012 MJ |
