Together Us

Together Us

A Poem by MJ

It was behind a dying tree,
the making of a tragedy.
Gaze for gaze,
a reckless daze.

Thunder whispered,
branches shivered.
Fishes quivered,
as water rippled.

Writers, you and I,
perhaps just passer by's.
Who could tell in that fog of haze,
in that nurturing, maddening craze.

But hush, my love say no more,
there's a night to kill,
so red, and still,
you weep on my kitchen floor?

Hand in hand we shall walk,
through a lane of twenty years.
Come my love, let me talk,
pour out a hundred tears.

Alas, it was a tragedy.
You and me,
and that dying tree.
Them, us and together, 'we'.
