The Quiet Breaking of a Mundane Heart

The Quiet Breaking of a Mundane Heart

A Poem by justa335
"

...the deepest pain is quiet.... (image c/o https://www.pinterest.com/)

"

The quiet breaking of a mundane heart

lies largely unseen, like a paper cut;

the pain that it renders is quick and deep

and only felt when a gentle hand sweeps

across the thin veneer of skin and blood

that houses a dam of anguish that floods

the walls, the chambers, the valves and the veins

turning them into crypts of self disdain.

How strange that silence takes longer to die,

and mundane hearts are so willing to lie.
