DistanceA Poem by Maria Elise
Was the distance because of her heavy grey clouds that surrounded her or my own inability to clear up the storm and help her? I understand now why I see her grey as beautiful instead of melancholy; it no longer blocks her color and grace but instead frames her and emphasizes what she was fighting for the entire time. As she moves through their life I wondered how she is so lovely; now I understand that the trauma she suffered has caused her to grow in a way that could make God himself jealous.
She is the epitome of a masterpiece because she is not just a surface work of art. She has layers that reveal her complexity and cause a sense of curiosity in me that I cannot quell. Since the moment I saw her I was drawn to the mystery she enshrouded herself with. Everything about her is beautiful and I feel more complete just for knowing of her. © 2015 Maria Elise |
