8:31pm

A Poem by Maria Barnett

Why are the best things always written

at 8:31pm when there’s an essay due

or your friends are having fun and you’re invited

and you can hear their careless laughter drifting

through the kitchen and the clattering sound

drilling in your brain because you’re scared

to change and you love being alone

because you hate it and

fear the unknown.

Short and simple, but pretty decent. I can definitely relate to it. There is much truth in this poem. Good job.
