Chapter 1: beginnings

In parallel dimension dwell the dark demons of our vast universe. This is the       story of Ryan Nicholson and his fight against these evil entities.

“Ryan!” a voice yelled from downstairs. “Get up!”

I sat up in my bed, rubbed my eyes and looked out of my bedroom window at the                                   Sun just coming over the horizon, showing off it’s brilliance to the awakening world. Looking at my alarm clock, I noticed that it was 5:32, Mom was up early today. Rolling myself out of bed, I got dressed for another interestingly awkward day of High school. I practically threw myself downstairs and walked into our spacious kitchen, where my mother stood cooking breakfast.

“It’s ‘bout time you got down here” She said jokingly.

“Ya” I said and flopped down at the table. Mom placed a plate of bacon, toast, and sausage in front of me and then sat down to eat her own breakfast. After we ate it was still only 6 o’clock. I ran upstairs to grab my backpack and picked up a magazine and sat at the kitchen table reading it until I had to leave for school at 6:30. Saying goodbye to my mother, I bolted out of the door, running straight to my bus stop. Running was, it seemed to me, the only thing besides school that I was actually good at.

“Yo, Ryan!” Cameron, my best friend shouted, waving to me from the bus stop. “You get Mr. Johnson’s homework done?”

“When haven’t I done my homework?” I replied.

“Cool because I need a few answers. Ya know I don’t have too much time for homework after practice.” Cam was on the football team and absolutely despised doing his homework.

“Sure, man” I said, handing him my answers. “Hurry up.”

“Thanks man. You’re a total lifesaver” Cameron said thankfully.

Just as he finished copying my answers, the bus rolled down the street toward our stop. Once the bus stopped, the ugly bus driver opened the doors, which we stepped through and flopped into one of the writing covered seats. By the time we got to school, the bus was filled.

Me and Cameron hopped off of the bus and sped towards the cafeteria in hopes for some breakfast before first period.
