The Missing Link

The Missing Link

A Poem by marcus

Evolution, explains all life
 Except us
The ecosystem, is in balance
 Without us
We are the only animal
 That kills, for pleasure
We are the only creature, that can create habitats
 And destroy them
And only we, posses art and science
If we don't fit in
Maybe we're not from around here

I must agree with everything you said. All other animals know their place and functions in the animal kingdom. But we, someone who is supposed to be conscious and conscientious, fail to abide by nature's ecosystem and thus destroying mother nature exponentially with time.

Great Poem! I always am a fan of poems that show what humanity does to the planet, and youv'e done a good job of it in this poem, I like the ending referring to us maybe nor being from around here too! Also, Ancient Aliens is an awesome show!

thank you!
Poignant piece...this world will happily survive without us and many do forget that, we are the guests here, honour and respect must prevail in order for any peace and survival...enjoyed this Marcus...

Ahh.. and what about humor? I think humor needs to make it in these lines somewhere :)

apparently chimps have a sense of humour
A brilliant glimpse of life in its complexity and painful echoes. Yes, at times we do seem so rather alien.

thank you Froman!
I have often been told I resemble a primate of the gorilla variety, I have the size and shape if not the fur so they could be right about me after all :~)
Interesting prospective, I have watched a number of shows of the Discovery Channel that feel that we may not be for here as well. How soon before I get to read your poem on where we might come from and how we got here? Maybe that could be a poetry challenge we could set up and compare theories, could be fun :~)
What do you think, would anyone be interested?

yes, that sounds like a fun idea to me!
I like where this takes me: beyond this world.... it's true that humankind seems to be the true parasite in this world...nicely-done, Marcus

How true we are nicely expressed, we KILL! Every thing in our progress we kill! A lovely pointed poem!
