Little Angel's Voice

Little Angel's Voice

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

The unwanted child

"

Dark, cold and lonely space,
I cried, fears in my soul, confused about what the future may bring,
Chaotic, heartless, reality; we’re separated,
I've been hurt, I’ve languished pain, I’ve wished I never lost you, I've been haunted,
You never give me a chance to call you my Mother,
It breaks my heart my little angel, we've made a terrible mistake,
I dreamt about you and my father, seems I have your eyes and I have my father’s face,
You look like your father my son, and your eyes, so beautiful like mine,
I wish I could kiss you, hold you and cry with you,
I am sorry; I am too scared to fight for you my baby boy,
I wish you could hear my voice and feel the beat of my heart,
Sorry, I am sorry my angel, Goodbye…

Author's Note

Marc Marlon Villaflor
Every year thousands of unwanted babies aborted, abortion is a massive ungodly practice of Doctors and Medical Practitioners that cost sometimes the life of the mother. I write this poem to give voice for those little angels that died and deprived a chance to live in this world.

I really liked that you told this from two perspectives. It is hard on a mother to give away her child (at least I should hope that it is) and it is sad. You do a great job expressing the regret, fear, anxiety, and love felt by both mother and child in this piece. I will stay away from arguing the moral issues here I think this could be used to persuade others to change their minds on this topic. Very powerful, great job.

The conversation of the would-be baby and the would-be mother is quite sad. However, i had reservation on this line: "You look like your father my son, and your eyes, so beautiful like mine," because i feel that these physical features are not yet visible on fetus.
Abortion is a hideous reality in our society. It is unfortunate that some people resort to this. But of course there are those who had to do it for medical reasons. A thought provoking write marc.

lol Thanks Gab, but it is just imagination to add more in the story but some aborted babies already .. read more
I agree with your thoughts, and sometimes though I don't want to procrastinate, I'm just wondering why these babies should be aborted, I mean, yeah, it might be hard for some to raise them but they can at least try and make an effort to let them live right?

You're welcome
Line 6: 'You never give me a chance to call you my Mother' - doesn't make sense - you've suddenly got the foetus talking. If you have lines in which the foetus is talking (!) perhaps put them in italics.

So many years and the abortion issue is still so charged with emotion. We probably will never truly reach a mutual understanding in this country in regards to this. You are brave and talented to put yourself out there like this. I admire that, and your talent shines here. I felt great sorrow in this read. Very well done.

Thanks Ms. Rita :)
What a powerfully emotional piece of writing, less a poem, more a plea for understanding and forgiveness. Having to stop.. .. The two voices are almost choking the way i feel, trying to understand how desperation pushes a woman to act that way BUT sometimes circumstances are such that whatever belief, most woman bear the cross of guilt forever. Wanting a child or children is the tultimate for most women, tis for me.. seems unforgivable that the story behind your wonderful write is so rife in so many countries.

You write superbly, even there are small errors, If you'd like mention, will do so privately.

Thanks Emma Joy, I am glad for your honest review.
As a mother and grandmother i felt the pain of this, it really hit home very hard. All children are are gift from God and are put in our care to help them grow. God bless all these little angels .....

This seems to be a topic that is increasing lately. A new baby was found on a park bench and the mother had ran away. It is upsetting to hear.

This was a really upsetting piece, very emotional. Good job!

Hi Marc, A very poingnant piece and well set out. A few offerings:
Dark, cold and lonely space,
I cried, fears in my soul, confused about what the future may bring,
Chaotic, heartless, reality; we’re separated,
I been hurt, I’ve languished pain, I’ve wished I never lost you, I've been haunted,
You never give me a chance to call you my Mother,
It breaks my heart my little angel, we've made a terrible mistake,
I dreamt about you and my father, seems I have your eyes and I have my father’s face,
You look like your father my son, and your eyes, so beautiful like mine,
I wish I could kiss you, hold you and cry with you,
I am sorry; I am too scared to fight for you my baby boy,
I wish you could hear my voice and feel the beat of my heart,
Sorry, I am sorry my angel, Goodbye…
