HALF OF MY LIFE

HALF OF MY LIFE

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

There will be no tears in heaven.

"

It was a gloomy morning--the sun covered by grey clouds

Rolling thunder echoes with the sound so loud.

Rain started to pour, I looked at the window;

Everything is depressing, I turn my back, I couldn't look at you

As you are there, lying in your bed chasing your breath.

It makes my body numb, stuck and I can’t move my feet.

Every time I look at you, it’s tearing my heart

I can’t accept the reality and I don’t know where to start,

Every time you call my name, it seems it is your last,

I can feel your heart slowing breaking like a fragile glass.

Now for the last time, I want to hold you,

I want to comfort you to end this sorrow.

If only I can give you half of my life

I will do it to extend your years, my loving wife.

My tears, your tears will fall, but remember me when you go,

Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with this sorrow.

Half of my life will be with you; I promise we will see each other again

My loving wife, remember: there will be no tears in heaven.

I just want to reflect how my Father loves my Mother. My Mom died when I was small, she battles cancer all her life and it is hard for us to accept the reality especially my Father.

When we lose someone close to us only we know how it feels, how we wish we would have given every single breath of ours to them, how we wish that it would have us instead of them.....you poured down every emotion in this white of yours..A really nice write Marc.

Decisions don't come any tougher than saying goodbye to someone special in life but the fact that the poem gradually moves away from the relationship is a sign of things progressing and life goes on. Strong emotions and vivid sense of loss. Enjoyed it very much

Thanks minisia, I appreciate your time reading my work.
Oh my, this was so touching and sad! To lose someone so close to you, whom you love so much is heartbreaking. It never leaves you, the pain never fully leaves you. The heart never fully heals once they're gone, the music made this complete, it was beautiful. A very emotional write, Marc. You got me here, a very sad, upsetting piece yet written so well and I loved it.

It does hurt alot, seeing them there, helpless. There's nothing you can do is annoying, you just want to take there place, make them okay. Do everything in your power to have them back.....

Amazing, emotional piece Marc!

There are losses no amount of poetry can excise. The fear and desperation are very strong in this piece. The poem is very emotionally charged and highly effective.

Marc, this was very touching. I can read several things into this but the one that stands clear above all others is the sadness associated with losing one that you so desperately love. This was great.

If only I can give you half of my life ... What sweet sorrow those words conjure to the reader. Sweetness for the love that brought them into being. Excellent write.

Devastation with a hint of hope and hopelessness all at the same time. Sad and heart wrenching yet so loving. Words really do this no justice, I could feel so many emotions in so few words. This was an excellent write, thank you for sharing :)

Thanks Aramey, glad you like this piece. Thank you for your precious time reading my work.
Losing someone you love always hurts, it's not something that the outside world can go and comfort you with. But there are still people who understand your pain and wrap their arms around you in comfort.
I can't offer any words of consolation to the narrator of this poem. Yes, someone in my family also died. But I never felt his and her loss. It was just something that passed by.
I was more than devastated and I even reached the point of wanting to claw my head out for not reacting properly.
But it can't be helped so I had to go with it.
Nice poem, kabayan
