HALF OF MY LIFE

HALF OF MY LIFE

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

There will be no tears in heaven.

"

It was a gloomy morning--the sun covered by grey clouds

Rolling thunder echoes with the sound so loud.

Rain started to pour, I looked at the window;

Everything is depressing, I turn my back, I couldn't look at you

As you are there, lying in your bed chasing your breath.

It makes my body numb, stuck and I can’t move my feet.

Every time I look at you, it’s tearing my heart

I can’t accept the reality and I don’t know where to start,

Every time you call my name, it seems it is your last,

I can feel your heart slowing breaking like a fragile glass.

Now for the last time, I want to hold you,

I want to comfort you to end this sorrow.

If only I can give you half of my life

I will do it to extend your years, my loving wife.

My tears, your tears will fall, but remember me when you go,

Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with this sorrow.

Half of my life will be with you; I promise we will see each other again

My loving wife, remember: there will be no tears in heaven.

I just want to reflect how my Father loves my Mother. My Mom died when I was small, she battles cancer all her life and it is hard for us to accept the reality especially my Father.

When we lose someone close to us only we know how it feels, how we wish we would have given every single breath of ours to them, how we wish that it would have us instead of them.....you poured down every emotion in this white of yours..A really nice write Marc.

You are welcome...:)
Marc...every beautiful line takes me right into the of the aggrieved subject overflowing with unfathomable sorrow and darkness. The parting is heartbreaking and the fear of it's arrival even worse. We live on an edge every moment...

A very poignant message in a very exquisitely crafted poem. Pen on.

What's this, Marc? Fiction lang to, di ba? Grabe ka naman, ginawa mo talagang mamamatay yung asawa mo. Ayaw ko nito...Hehe. Lol :) Dramatic ang dating natin ngayon, Bro.:)
Let us fix some little slips in here: (CAPS)

'TWAS (or IT WAS) a gloomy morning AND the sun WAS COVERED by gray CLOUDS
Rolling thunder echoes WITH the sound so loud
Rain started to POUR, I LOOKED at the window
Everything is depressing; I can’t LOOK BACK at you

It makes my body numb, I'M SCARED, I can’t move my feet

I CAN'T SEE YOU BREAKING like a fragile glass (fading is to color; breaking is to glass)

I will do it to extend YOUR LIFE being my loving wife
My tears, YOUR tears will fall, BUT remember me when you go
Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with THIS sorrow

Maliliit lang naman yun...tenses of verb, tapos yung iba plural/singular noun, addition of pronouns lang. Baka nakalimutan mo lang. Smile! :)

Sad story. (: Just have faith. Keep on going. :)
To feel you lose a love is devastating, it can chew for years, and a person can feel it, the fear, the insecurity, the pain that comes with while never speak it out, it can grow slowly inside of you, and then when it happens... it's really there. Sad beauty here my friend, you captured that so well.... excellent work.

Thanks Res, glad you are here :) it means a lot. Thank you.
Sorry for your mother. When someone close is not there anymore, heart prefers to lie than to bear the sorrow. The lines are very touching and deep. Good work.
